ReCreate provides sustainable Maker Education. By diverting clean usable waste from local businesses and combining it with high-tech tools, ReCreate delivers hands-on, project-based learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. ReCreate empowers our region's youth with maker education we can help our today's students learn vital skills necessary to compete and lead the 21st century workforce. Simultaneously, ReCreate diverts over 60 tons annually of materials no longer needed by regional businesses.
The EcoArt Studio is ReCreate’s airy, spacious home base. Here we host birthday parties, field trips, kids’ workshops and camps, as well as classes for adults. We also offer Fun Friday and Family Projects for artists and crafters of all ages. We supply the super cool diverted materials, you supply the creativity!
ReCreate has several programs designed to launch the next generation of environmentalists. Each year more than 15,000 local students participate in More Art! Less Waste!, a lively program we take to local elementary schools. Our pre-school and kindergarten visits, as well as the field trips we host at our EcoArt Studio, also promote the “3 R’s”: reduce, reuse, recycle. (Stay tuned for our upcoming STE(A)M Train program!)
ReCreate collects perfectly good, incredibly cool—but no longer needed—materials from local businesses and sells them to artists, crafters, sewers, knitters, costume-makers, artists, and anyone with a project. Our goods are so inspiring you may never walk into another commercial art supply store again—especially since all the "purchases" you make here are on a pay-what-you-can basis!
Look for our colorful, can’t-miss-it Rolling ReCreate truck at fairs, festivals, and special events held by local businesses such as IKEA or Whole Foods. We set up a table, provide materials (diverted, of course) and tools for a free, on-the-spot art-making experience. Armed with glue guns, good humor, and boundless creativity, our fun facilitators can bring out the artistic genius in anyone. Be sure to stop by!
